Qualisight ("Qualisight", "we", "us", or "our") is a Canadian personal finance web application operated by a sole proprietor based in Ontario, Canada. We take the privacy of your financial information seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have over it. We handle your personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Ontario law.
The short version
- We collect your email and the financial figures you choose to enter. That's it.
- We use it only to run the app for you. We never sell, rent, or share it for advertising.
- Your data is encrypted and stored with trusted providers, some located outside Canada (mainly the United States).
- You can access, correct, export, or delete your data anytime by emailing us.
- You're always in control, and you can close your account whenever you want.
1Who is responsible for your information
Qualisight is the organization accountable for the personal information under its control. We have designated a Privacy Officer who is responsible for our compliance with this policy and with PIPEDA. If you have any questions, concerns, or requests about your privacy, you can reach our Privacy Officer at privacy@qualisight.ca.
2What personal information we collect
We collect only what we need to provide the service. This includes:
| Category | What it includes |
| Account information | Your email address and a securely hashed password, used to create and secure your account. |
| Financial information you enter | Income, expenses, budgets, debts, savings, investment holdings, account types (such as TFSA, RRSP, or FHSA), and financial goals that you choose to input. This is sensitive personal information and we treat it accordingly. |
| AI advisor conversations | The questions you ask our AI advisor and the financial context used to answer them, so the feature can respond to you. |
| Subscription information | Whether you are on a trial or paid plan, and billing status. Payment card numbers are handled directly by our payment processor and are never seen or stored by us. |
| Technical information | Basic information your browser sends automatically, such as device and browser type, and information needed to keep you securely logged in. We do not use advertising trackers. |
We do not connect to your bank accounts, and we do not collect your Social Insurance Number, government identification, or any payment card numbers.
3Why we collect it and your consent
We identify the purposes for collecting your information at or before the time we collect it. We use your personal information to:
- Create, secure, and operate your account;
- Provide the budgeting, debt, investment, housing, and savings-planning features you use;
- Generate calculations, projections, and AI advisor responses based on the figures you enter;
- Process your subscription and trial through our payment processor;
- Respond to your support requests and communicate with you about your account;
- Maintain the security of the service and meet our legal obligations.
Because your financial information is sensitive, we rely on your express consent, which you give by creating an account and choosing to enter your data. You may withdraw your consent at any time by closing your account, subject to any legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide the service to you.
We only use your information for the purposes described here. If we ever want to use it for a new purpose, we will ask for your consent first.
4How we share information with service providers
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We never share it with advertisers or data brokers. We share it only with the trusted third-party service providers that make the app work, and only to the extent they need it to perform their function on our behalf:
| Provider | Purpose |
| Supabase | Secure database, authentication, and storage of your account and financial data. |
| Stripe | Payment processing for subscriptions. Stripe collects and handles your payment card details directly under its own privacy policy. |
| Zoho Mail | Sending and receiving account and support email. |
| GitHub Pages | Hosting and serving the application to your browser. |
| AI processing provider | Powering the AI advisor feature. Conversations are sent to be processed so the feature can respond. |
We require our service providers to protect your personal information using safeguards comparable to our own, and to use it only for the purposes we specify. We remain accountable for your information while it is being processed by them.
We may also disclose personal information if required to do so by law, by a valid court order, or by a lawful request from a government or regulatory authority, or where necessary to protect our legal rights or the safety of others.
5Storage outside Canada (cross-border transfer)
Some of our service providers store and process data on servers located outside Canada, primarily in the United States, and your personal information may be transferred to, stored in, or processed in those countries.
⚠️
While your information is in another country, it is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessible to that country's courts, law enforcement, and regulatory authorities under their applicable laws. We use providers that apply strong security and contractual protections, but we want you to be clearly aware of this before you provide your information.
Regardless of where your information is processed, Qualisight remains responsible for protecting it and requires comparable protections through our agreements with these providers, as required by PIPEDA.
6How we protect your information
We use security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of financial information, including:
- Encryption of your data in transit (HTTPS) and at rest;
- Secure authentication with hashed passwords, so we never store your password in readable form;
- Access controls that limit who and what can reach your data;
- Reliance on established providers that maintain industry-standard security practices.
No method of transmission or storage is ever completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. However, we work to protect your information and to limit the amount of personal information we collect in the first place.
7If there is a data breach
If a breach of security safeguards occurs involving your personal information and it creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will report the breach to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and notify you as soon as feasible, as required by PIPEDA. Our notice will give you enough information to understand the risk and take steps to protect yourself. We also keep records of security breaches as required by law.
8How long we keep your information
We keep your personal information only as long as needed to provide the service and for a reasonable period afterward, or as required to meet legal, accounting, or reporting obligations. When you delete your account, we delete your associated personal data from our active systems within 30 days. Some information may remain in encrypted backups for a limited additional period until those backups are cycled out, and limited records (such as billing records) may be retained where the law requires.
9Your privacy rights
Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you and learn how it has been used and disclosed;
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- Export a copy of the financial data you have entered;
- Delete your account and associated personal data;
- Withdraw consent to our use of your information, subject to legal or contractual limits;
- Challenge our compliance with this policy and with PIPEDA.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@qualisight.ca. We will respond within 30 days and will verify your identity before acting on a request. There is no cost for most requests.
10Email communications
We send you essential service messages related to your account, such as sign-in confirmations, password resets, billing notices, and security alerts. These are required to operate your account and are not marketing.
We will only send you promotional or marketing emails if you have given consent, in line with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Every marketing email includes a clear, no-questions-asked unsubscribe link, and we honour unsubscribe requests promptly.
11Cookies and similar technologies
We use only the cookies and local browser storage necessary to keep you securely signed in and to make the app function. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. Because we rely on strictly necessary functionality, the app may not work properly if you disable these.
12Children's privacy
Qualisight is intended for adults managing their own finances and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of majority in their province. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
13This is not financial advice
Qualisight is a personal finance tracking and planning tool. The calculations, projections, and AI advisor responses are for general educational and informational purposes only and are not investment, tax, legal, or financial advice. Always consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions.
14Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of Qualisight after a change means you accept the updated policy.
15How to reach us or file a complaint
For any privacy question, request, or complaint, contact our Privacy Officer at privacy@qualisight.ca. We will investigate and respond to all complaints we receive.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca or by phone at 1-800-282-1376.
This policy is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.
